We are thrilled to announce the Güipil Author’s Festival 2023.

Winston-Salem, NC – The Güipil Author’s Festival 2023 is set to take place on April 14th and 15th, and we couldn’t be more excited! Five of our Güipil authors from four different states will be in attendance, and the festival promises to be a remarkable event that celebrates the rich cultural heritage and literary contributions of our Hispanic authors.

The authors attending the festival are Claudia Galvan, Ileana Calero, Carmen Hernandez, Ana Yaheli Sanchez, and Lidia Susana Pocasangre, author of “Healing Wounds in November,” available in both English and Spanish.

The event will kick off on Friday, April 14th, with two literary art presentations for 5th graders, followed by another for 4th graders. During these presentations, students will learn about the importance of a positive attitude in life and business, as well as the cultural background of our Hispanic authors. The presentations will take place at an elementary school in Winston-Salem.

Later that day, the Güipil Author’s Festival will move to Parkland High School for a bilingual Author Panel. Our authors will be discussing their work and the importance of Hispanic literature in today’s society.

On Friday evening from 4-6 pm, we will be presenting awards and recognition to each of the five authors based on the mission of their books. During the event, we will introduce each author and focus on the central themes of their work. The programming will be in Spanish, as our books are written in Spanish.

The festival programming will continue on Saturday, April 15th, with a half day of literature and writing training with Lee Thomson, a member of our Board and a high executive expert with over 30 years of experience in marketing for the book industry.

The Güipil Author’s Festival will continue throughout the year with monthly activities. We are open to accommodating your schedule and bringing Hispanic authors to bookstores or schools. All participating schools will receive a donation of Güipil books for their libraries. The next date we have is May 26th.

We are honored to be hosting this festival and to celebrate the diversity and richness of Hispanic literature. We hope to see you there!
